About Qatar Road Safety

Qatar Transportation and Traffic Safety Center in collaboration with the National Traffic Safety Committee has established this public platform with the aim of collecting and disseminating research studies and events related to road safety in Qatar. The website aims to fulfil the goals of the National Road Safety Strategy through the framework of the action plans assigned to Qatar Transportation and Traffic Safety Center.

In 2010, to address the road safety concern in the country, the National Traffic Safety Committee was formed to lead and oversee the implementation of the National Road Safety Strategy through the Road Safety Action Plans. The Qatar National Road Safety Strategy provides a long-term vision for road safety in Qatar as

“A safe road transport system that protects all road users from death and serious injury”.

Its target is to reduce road traffic related fatality to 130 and the number of serious injuries to 300 by 2022.

The National Road Safety Strategy has adopted the Safe System concept that is a holistic approach to tackle road safety. In Safe System, improving road safety is considered a shared responsibility of everyone from road authorities to road users. Qatar Road Safety website is an outcome of one of the Actions of Qatar’s National Road Safety Strategy 2013-2022. Through this website, everyone is invited to register as a user and upload their contribution to the field of Road Safety in Qatar.
